What made you first want to make trollmegle a thing? Did you ever expect the response to be as big as it is?

I used to roleplay Homestuck on Zingled, a little random chat site that had been overtaken by RPers. Zingled started becoming popular with fans of Youtube musicians- there were one or two raffles for tickets to see Meekakitty perform, oh my gosh, those nights were insane- and I thought I wanted to start a site for this! That was February 2011.

In May 2011, my school semester ended at the same time robertyPowers started test-running an Omegle clone server that he dubbed Trollmegle. Rob was a friend of mine, and I had planned to work on this project over my Summer break, so I took over enhancing the code that he found somewhere, and launched the site after not sleeping for like, two days.

Then I almost got kicked off of my host due to excessive traffic use, so the answer to your second question is “nope.” I’m really happy that people like it, and I’m super-proud of the efforts of everyone who’s contributed everything to help the site run: programmers, donators, server administrators, forum moderators, and, duh, RPers.

I know it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it’s cool that there’s a community of people who enjoy something I’m a part of.
